TENCEL™ (trademark of LENZING AG and brand name of the product lyocell) is made from pulp of eucalyptus wood. TENCEL™ Lyocell is manufactured using a sustainable, closed loop, and environmentally friendly production process, in which the amount of water and chemicals used is reduced and no harmful by-products are generated.
By comparison, growing and producing cotton requires the use of large amounts of water and pesticides, and releases many chemicals into the water and soil after production.
TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers are certified as biodegradable and compostable. LENZING™ Lyocell and Modal standard fibers are certified by TUV AUSTRIA as biodegradable in soil, freshwater and marine environments and compostable in the home and garden.
